John’s Bio: When I first felt the tug on my heart to go into ministry, my mentor advised me to try anything else I might have a passion for first. That sparked a journey that lasted over 10 years and led me to work at an international non-profit, a Silicon Valley startup, and as a property manager in midtown Manhattan. Along the way, the challenges from losing both my parents early and reckoning with my own health concerns required me to pivot time again and again.
Now, as I serve as the pastor of a congregation I love, I can see that each experience prepared me for an unseeable future. My interest in organizational change, technology, and building trust quickly with others ended up being essential to doing ministry amidst a pandemic. As it turns out, my mentor’s advice was exactly what I needed to prepare me for my dream.
